From hair salon to magic sand: what to do in the new café!

Role-playing has moved out, the café has been given more space, and Emma and Natja have created new life in level 0. Read on as Emma tells us about all the fun new things happening down there, such as fancy dress, magic sand and a hair salon.

Emma, you've only just joined the club and have started in the new café with Natja. It looks great, but how are you settling in?

"I think I've settled in really well. It's really nice. "It's because of the nice staff, but also because of the lovely children who come here. So thank you for you."

If you don't know what to do, what can you always do here in the café?

"Natja and I are very aware of this. As you can see, we have three tables where we usually always try to make some 'stations'. So, for example, we often have the drawing table out. Then we have a table that most days is dedicated to an adult-supported activity, which could be baking or making slime or other things. We also just found this amazing magic sand, which is very popular with the cute kids. And then we bake at least three times a week."

What can you only do in the café once in a while?

"For example, there were some toilet seats that were not being used. So we came up with the idea of painting them. So you could come down one day and paint a toilet seat. It's not always you hear about such a small, quirky activity. But it was actually very popular. And this Thursday we're going on a trip. Because we've also built a theatre area with a stage and there's a lot of costumes that have proved to be quite popular. So we're going to go to the second-hand shops on Thursday and find some more of that."

That was my next question. What do we need the stage for?

"There are actually quite a few children who have already started writing their own theatre play. And they really want to use the clothes and the stage. And in the evenings, there are older children who are very musical, because there are a lot of people playing music. So we thought of it as an acoustic stage where you can stand up in a smaller group and play a quiet guitar and sing. Because when you create a stage or a space or an area, the children are inspired by it. So it's really meant to awaken creativity."

What will be different than before?

"You might remember that where the stage is, there was a TV screen where you could play Playstation. It was really popular, and it was also really nice that it was an option. But we felt that it created a bit too much noise, so it was a bit more difficult for those who wanted to immerse themselves." I'm really happy that E-Sports is getting gaming and that the café is getting everything that belongs in the café. "I'm really happy to hear that. Thank you for that."

What's next for the café? What can we look forward to?

"We want to expand the scene. And we can't forget to mention the LEGO area. It's also really popular with a certain group of children, but we've actually seen more and more people coming here to experience all the good things about LEGO."

"And we're going to buy more of it. The opportunities are growing and growing. So the area will expand, and there will be more stage and more LEGO. Yes, and aesthetically speaking, we also want to find some posters and make the café even more attractive and filled with art."
