Asta's climbing guide

If you don't know much about climbing and want to learn more, here's a wealth of knowledge to prepare you for your first climbing trip.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

Don't worry that you'll have to go out and buy a lot of equipment. "Phew" is what all the parents will say. You can borrow it from Dan, but if you climb a lot, it's a good idea to buy your own climbing shoes because it's important that they fit properly.

Like I said, you need climbing shoes and you're probably thinking: "Why can't I just wear my own shoes?"

See, your trainers are made of a different material than those cool climbing shoes, and it's important that you stay VERY, VERY secure. But if you climb often, it's a good idea to buy your own shoes so they fit REALLY, REALLY well.

You'll also need a rope brake.

You'll also need a climbing harness with a rope so Dan can hold on to you so you don't fall off.

HOW DO YOU CLIMB? You'll need some hands and feet to grab the different holds on the different routes. You start by grabbing with your hands, then your feet find holds to stand on, and then you continue like that.

WHEN DO YOU GET BISCUITS? If you reach the top of one of the most difficult routes, there are some biscuits at the top that you can take as a reward.

CLUB OUTINGS: Once a year, the climbing club goes on their annual climbing camp on Bornholm, where they climb rocks. Dan also takes the kids to explore the different climbing walls in Copenhagen.

WHEN CAN YOU CLIMB? See, it's pretty important to know when you can climb. You can climb Monday-Thursday. It's typically from 14-18, but sometimes the climbing wall is also open during holidays.

THE ROUTES: There are three climbing walls inside the climbing room. Each wall has four routes, so there are 12 in total. In addition, there are also a lot of routes on the Boulder wall in Level 0.

Climbing joke of the day: All the kids were lowered down except Keld, he jumped himself!
